Open and sign in to the console
The Anava Edge console is the camera's own page. It runs on the camera, so there is no Anava account to create and no internet needed. You see reads, events and rules for that camera, and an administrator sets them up.
Open it
Open the console from a computer on the camera's network. Use either way.
-
From the camera's web page. Go to Apps, select Anava Agent, then Open.
-
By its address. Type this in your browser, with the camera's address in place of
<camera-ip>:http://<camera-ip>/local/AnavaAgent/web/Use
https://if the camera accepts only HTTPS. Your browser may warn about the camera's certificate. Cameras make their own, so the warning is expected. Continue only on a network you trust.
Save the address as a bookmark. It is the same for every camera, only the camera's address changes.
The camera decides who may open the page. Sign in with a camera account, the same one you use for the camera's web page. The console has no Anava sign-in of its own.
There are two roles. Which one you get depends on the camera account.
| Administrator | Viewer | |
|---|---|---|
| Address | http://<camera-ip>/local/AnavaAgent/web/ | http://<camera-ip>/local/AnavaAgent/view/ |
| Sees | Overview, Plates, Activity, Setup, Fleet template | Overview, Plates and Activity |
| Can change | Rules, plate settings, lists, outputs, services, the fleet template | Nothing. The page is read only |
A few things to know about viewers:
- An administrator can hide Plates from viewers. A viewer then sees Overview and Activity only.
- The viewer page is off on a camera that a fleet template manages or locks, unless the template turns it on.
- The viewer page is off while the camera allows anonymous viewing. See the next section.
Anonymous viewing
AXIS OS can let anyone on the network view the camera without a login. That setting is called anonymous viewing. The Anava viewer page does not open while it is on, because the camera cannot tell who is looking at plates. The page says Sign in with a camera account.
To fix it, an administrator turns anonymous viewing off in the camera's settings, in the camera's account settings under System. The name and place of the setting differ between AXIS OS versions. Administrators are not affected: they always sign in.
What you see as an administrator
| Area | What it is for |
|---|---|
| Overview | Reads, hits and health at a glance, and a way to try Hybrid Edge |
| Plates | The plate feed, this camera's reads, the watchlist and where plates go |
| Activity | Events, a live view and each rule's firings |
| Setup | Rules, Edge analytics, Outputs, Anava services and System |
| Fleet template | Template, Exports, Publish and lock and Status, for copying this camera's settings to others |
Hybrid Edge starts in Setup, then Anava services. See Hybrid Edge. The settings file for AXIS Device Manager is in Fleet template, then Exports. See Deploy with AXIS Device Manager.
The Classic pages
The older Classic settings pages stay for one more release at http://<camera-ip>/local/AnavaAgent/web/lite.
If the page does not open
- It says it cannot reach the camera app, or that the app is starting. Wait. The page asks again every few seconds and opens when the camera answers. A camera that has just started or been upgraded can need a minute.
- It says to sign in with a camera account. Sign in with a camera account. For a viewer, an administrator may need to turn anonymous viewing off. See above.
- Your browser cannot find the camera. The computer must be on the camera's network. Check that the camera's own web page opens first.
- The camera's web page opens, but Open does nothing, or the address gives a not found page. Open Apps and check that Anava Agent is running. Start it if it is not.
- You can open the camera's page but not the console as a viewer. The camera may be managed by a fleet template that keeps viewers out, or it may allow anonymous viewing. Ask an administrator.
