Hybrid Edge
Free Edge reads plates, detects people and vehicles, and runs your rules on the camera, with no account and no cloud. Hybrid Edge adds cloud AI to a camera you choose, for the checks the camera cannot make by itself.
Your Anava account gets a free trial of 1,000,000 tokens, shared by its cameras. The trial has no expiry. You start it from a camera's console. There is no card to enter.
What Hybrid Edge adds
- Conditions in rules. Describe something specific in your own words, such as "a person carrying a box". The camera flags a frame and the cloud checks it against your words.
- Talkdown. The camera speaks a warning through a speaker when a rule fires.
- AI details on a plate read. Ask the cloud for details about the vehicle on a plate read.
- Email alerts. Coming.
Everything in Free Edge keeps running on the camera, on every edition.

Start the free trial
You need the administrator account of the camera, and the camera needs an internet connection for this step.
- Open the camera's console and sign in as an administrator. See Open and sign in to the console.
- Go to Setup, then Anava services.
- In the Hybrid card, select Start free trial.
- Anava's sign-in opens in a new window. If your browser blocks it, allow pop-ups for the camera's address and select Start free trial again.
- Sign in to your Anava account, or create one. Accept the trial terms and confirm the camera. The camera joins your account's trial.
- The window closes by itself. The camera confirms the trial and restarts the Anava app, which can take a minute. The console reloads and shows the trial.
If the window cannot hand the result back to the camera, it shows a 16-character code. Paste it into the field the console offers under Start free trial, and select Use this code.
If the Hybrid card says the camera's software cannot start a trial, install the newest package from anava.ai/download. Upgrading keeps your settings.
How the trial works
- One trial per account. An account that has used its trial cannot start another.
- 1,000,000 tokens, shared. Every camera on the account draws on the same tokens. Tokens are what the cloud AI counts when it reads an image and writes an answer.
- More cameras. To add another camera to the trial, start it from that camera's console and sign in to the same Anava account.
- No expiry. The trial ends when its tokens run out, not on a date.
- No card.
- Your Free Edge features do not change. Plates, lists and rules keep running on the camera while you try Hybrid.
The console and your Anava account show how many of the account's tokens are left.
When the trial is used up
The console shows Trial used up on every camera of the account. Free Edge keeps working: plates, lists and rules run on the camera, and nothing local stops. Only the Hybrid features stop. To use them again, upgrade.
Upgrade on Google Cloud Marketplace
Paid Hybrid Edge is bought on Google Cloud Marketplace. You need a Google Cloud account. If the listing does not render, sign in to Google Cloud first.
- In the console, go to Setup, then Anava services, and select Upgrade in the Hybrid card. The Marketplace listing opens in a new tab, with the Hybrid Edge plan selected.
- Subscribe.
- Connect the subscription to the Anava account you used for the trial.
- The camera moves to paid Hybrid Edge on its next check, which is about twice a day. To check at once, select Check subscription now. It asks at most once a minute.
You do not reinstall anything and you do not start a second trial.
What it costs
Hybrid Edge is billed through Google Cloud Marketplace. It meters camera device-hours and AI units. One AI unit is 1,000 weighted tokens, and an AI unit costs $0.001. See anava.ai/pricing for the device-hour rate and the current list rates. The price you are charged is the one on the Marketplace offer you accept at checkout. A camera you remove stops costing from that hour.
Your Anava account
Your Anava account is at edge.anava.ai. It keeps the account side of Hybrid Edge:
- Sign-in, your trial and your plan.
- Your cameras, from their check-ins: serial number, app version and last check-in.
- Usage, including the trial tokens left, members and downloads.
- Remove camera, which takes a camera off your account.
You operate a camera from its own page. The account has no live view, rules or settings. A camera you remove falls back to Free Edge, and billing for it stops from that hour.
Already route AI through your own gateway?
Some organizations send all AI requests through their own LLM gateway. Those requests do not use Anava tokens. See Enterprise LLM Gateway.
Need many sites, an audit log or Ask Anava?
That is Anava Vision, which runs in your own Google Cloud project. See anava.ai/pricing.
