Enterprise LLM Gateway
Some organizations route all AI requests through their own gateway. Anava Edge supports this with LLM Gateway mode.
How it works
- LLM Gateway mode is off by default.
- It turns on when a token is stored in the camera parameter
root.AnavaAgent.Anava_GatewayToken. - The parameter is hidden. It is not part of the
.cfgfile from the console, and it is not shown in settings forms. - An expired token is refused.
Set the token on every camera that should use the gateway.
Set the token
Use any tool that can call VAPIX. Send a POST to /axis-cgi/param.cgi with a form body, so the token stays out of URLs and logs. The example reads the camera password from CAMERA_PASSWORD in your shell.
curl --anyauth -u "root:$CAMERA_PASSWORD" \
--data-urlencode "action=update" \
--data-urlencode "root.AnavaAgent.Anava_GatewayToken=<token>" \
"https://CAMERA_IP/axis-cgi/param.cgi"
To push the token to many cameras, loop over a list as shown in Scripts.
On one camera you can also paste the token in the console: Setup, then Anava services, then Your LLM gateway. The field is write-only. The camera keeps the token and never shows it again.
Handle the token safely
- Treat it as a secret. Do not put it in scripts you share or in tickets.
- Use HTTPS on untrusted networks.
- Issue tokens with an expiry and renew them before they run out. The camera refuses an expired token.
Turn it off
Set Anava_GatewayToken to off, with the same tool you used to set the token:
curl --anyauth -u "root:$CAMERA_PASSWORD" \
--data-urlencode "action=update" \
--data-urlencode "root.AnavaAgent.Anava_GatewayToken=off" \
"https://CAMERA_IP/axis-cgi/param.cgi"
- The camera removes its gateway token within a few seconds, and again after every restart while the parameter stays
off. - A camera that also reads plates, or uses Anava Hybrid, keeps running. A camera that used only the gateway stops its AI checks, and starts again when you put a token back in the parameter.
- While the parameter is
off, the camera keeps no gateway token, including one typed in the console. - To turn the gateway back on, set the parameter to a token again. No restart is needed.
- An empty parameter does not turn the gateway off. An empty value can be copied by accident from another camera, so the camera ignores it.
- Pushing the kit placeholder does not turn the gateway off either.
You can also select Remove token in the console, under Setup, Anava services, Your LLM gateway. On the Classic page the button is Remove stored key. If off leaves the gateway on, the camera runs an older release: remove the token on the camera's own page.
