Air-gapped sites

Free Edge works with no internet at all. The camera does not contact Anava. Only the download step needs an internet connection, and it happens on a different PC.

Steps​

  1. On a connected PC, go to anava.ai/download. Sign in with Google or your work email, and agree to the license; the sign-in is for the download only.
  2. Download the .eap package for each chip and AXIS OS version you have. See Which package fits which camera.
  3. Move the files to the isolated network with your approved transfer method, for example a scanned USB drive.
  4. Install the package on the cameras with AXIS Device Manager, the camera web page or Scripts.
  5. On one camera, open the console and set it up. Go to Fleet template, then Exports, and select Download .cfg.
  6. Push that .cfg to the other cameras with AXIS Device Manager: Configure Devices, then Configure....

You can also make the .cfg in the isolated network. It comes from the camera, so no internet is needed.

What does not need the internet​

  • Installing and starting the app.
  • Detections, plate reading and rules on the camera.
  • Pushing settings with a configuration file.

What needs the internet​

Hybrid Edge. The camera asks Anava's cloud AI to check a frame, so a camera with no internet cannot use it. Free Edge is the edition for these sites. A closed site that still wants AI checks can point the camera at its own gateway. See Enterprise LLM Gateway.

Support​

If you need help, open the console on the camera, go to Setup, then System, and select Download support bundle. The bundle contains no secrets. Send it to Anava support by your normal channel.
